Ciao amici di LifeAdventures! Oggi ritorniamo a fare un tuffo nel passato.....alla scoperta del castello di Sperlinga. Ci troviamo nel cuore verde della Sicilia, tra il parco dei Nebrodi e delle Madonie. Questo è un castello medievale scavato nella rocca che domina la città, ricavato da un unico monolite, sopra grotte di templi sacri che risalgono a 4.000 anni fa. L'inizio dell'edificazione si fa risalire tra la fine dell'XI secolo e l'inizio del XII, sotto i normanni. Il Castello fu particolarmente importante nel 1282, durante la guerra dei Vespri Siciliani, che vide gli abitanti della regione ribellarsi alla dominazione angioina. Fu infatti l’unica roccaforte nella quale gli angioini trovarono riparo dai siciliani in rivolta. Il castello fu assegnato nel 1324 dagli aragonesi alla famiglia Ventimiglia, che lo possedette per oltre due secoli. Nel 1597 venne comprato dal barone Giovanni Forti ; nel 1658 venne acquistato dalla famiglia Oneto e nel 1680 passò al figlio Domenico Oneto e Spatafora che, senza figli, lo lasciò al fratello Francesco Oneto e Spatafora nel 1698. Nel 1862 passò alla famiglia del barone Nunzio Nicosia, che nel 1973 lo cedette al comune di Sperlinga. It is located in the green heart of Sicily, between the Nebrodi and Madonie parks. This is a medieval castle dug into the rock overlooking the city, made from a single monolith, above caves of sacred temples that date back 4,000 years ago. The beginning of construction dates back to between the end of the 11th century and the beginning of the 12th, under the Normans. The Castle was particularly important in 1282, during the War of the Sicilian Vespers, which saw the inhabitants of the region rebel against Angevin domination. It was in fact the only stronghold in which the Angevins found shelter from the Sicilians in revolt. The castle was assigned in 1324 by the Aragonese to the Ventimiglia family, who owned it for over two centuries. In 1597 it was bought by Baron Giovanni Forti; in 1658 it was purchased by the Oneto family and in 1680 it passed to their son Domenico Oneto and Spatafora who, without children, left it to his brother Francesco Oneto and Spatafora in 1698. In 1862 it passed to the family of Baron Nunzio Nicosia, who in 1973 sold it to the municipality of Sperlinga.
