The disadvantages of implantable contraceptives are that they do not protect against sexually transmitted infections; some complications may occur, such as skin infections, allergies, or implant displacement, although the likelihood is very low; side effects include menstrual cycle irregularities, acne, weight gain, breast tenderness, and headaches. Furthermore, the cost of implantable contraceptives is higher than that of intrauterine devices (IUDs). In general, all contraceptive methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. Therefore, a method that works for one person may not work for another. Depending on each person's health condition and circumstances, they should choose the most suitable postpartum contraception method.
