Lokporträt Dampflok 78 468
The 78 468 was built in 1924 with the serial number 20166 by Henschel in Kassel. Its acceptance test took place on March 6 of the same year. One day later, the locomotive was transferred to the Opole Reichsbahndirektion (Opole Regional Railway Directorate) at the Gliwice depot. On September 4, 1944, it was transferred to the Wuppertal Reichsbahndirektion (Wuppertal Regional Railway Directorate) and based at the Hagen-Eckesey depot. On June 19, 1958, the steam locomotive moved to the Wuppertal-Vohwinkel depot. It wasn't until eight and a half years later that it moved to the Hamburg Altona depot. The locomotive, equipped with push-pull control, was used to pull steam-driven push-pull trains in both Wuppertal and Hamburg. Its last service was on the Hamburg Bergedorf - Aumühle line.
