Jinhao 9016 Fountain Pen: A Great Buy!

Jonathan Weinberg of Drawing with Fountain Pens reviews the new Jinhao 9016 Fountain pen, the smaller cousin of the popular Dadao 9019 and concludes it is a great bargain. He particularly likes the fact that it uses the same larger converter and he likes the new medium heartbeat nib. He talks about how its standard size number 6 nib means you can easily swap nibs with other manufacturers and even experiment using dip pen nibs on it. He even tests out the Fountain Pen Revolution ultraflex nib in the pen with mixed results. It turns out that the 9016 and 9019 do not share the same size converter. The 9016 is bigger than a standard size converter but not as big as the 9019 converter. As one viewer told me, the 9016 holds 1.7 ml of ink which is around what the Custom 823 would hold. However, this is really even more innovative than I initially thought, since it means Jinhao is producing custom converters for their pens. It occurred to me that Pilot does produce different size converters that only work with their pens that are interchangeable providing the barrel of the pen can accommodate the size.
