In Osho's discourses, "Sahaj Aashiqui Nahin" (There is no easy love) has a very deep spiritual meaning. It is originally a line from the works of Sufi saints or sages like Kabir, which simply means: "True love (love for God or existence) is not an easy or trivial game." 1. Dissolution of Ego (No Ego, No Pride) Osho says that the biggest obstacle in both ordinary love and love for God (Aashiqui) is our ego. "Sahaj" here means "easy." Walking on the path of God or being a true lover is not easy because it requires the erasure of the "I." As long as you keep yourself safe, you cannot become a true lover. 2. It is a "Gamble" (The Ultimate Gamble) In Osho's words, love or spirituality is not a part-time hobby. This isn't something you can do in your free time. "This is gambling, where you have to put yourself at stake. Shopkeepers can't do it here; only those who are ready to sacrifice themselves win." 3. Different from cheap and false love What people commonly call love or devotion is often a compromise or a demand (business). People even go to temples and mosques to ask for something. Osho says that this isn't love. True love is when you don't ask for anything in return, not even your own existence. That's why it's not "sahaj" (easy).
