Gods of the Ghats | A Short Documentary on Life in the Sahyadris

Not all gods live in temples. Some bloom in silence, call from the canopy, and disappear into the mist. Gods of the Ghats is a short documentary filmed during December 2025 and January 2026 across the Sahyadris / Western Ghats ... a small attempt to look at these mountains not just as scenery, but as a living world of birds, insects, wildflowers, forests, rain, stone, and people. This film moves through the quieter details of life in the Ghats: birds feeding in their own unique ways, fleeting moments around water, the extraordinary diversity held within these hills, and the kindness of people who make such journeys possible. It is also a reminder that conservation is not only about one iconic species or one dramatic moment — it is about respecting the entire web of life that makes a landscape whole. From the legendary birding spaces of the Ghats to the trails that slow you down enough to truly see, Gods of the Ghats is my attempt to share wonder, gratitude, and a deeper sense of connection with this fragile and beautiful world. If this film resonates with you, please share it, leave a comment, and consider supporting my work so I can continue creating independent films and stories rooted in natural history, biodiversity, and conservation. 0:00 The Sahyadris 2:06 Great Indian Trails 2:36 Wildlife of the Ghats 5:33 Old Magazine House 8:15 Windy Hills 9:07 Appeal & Credits Support the journey: Patreon:   / caneandcamera   Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/CaneAndCamera Special thanks / credits: Windy Hills: https://www.windyhills.in/ Great Indian Trail (GRIT): https://greatindiantrail.com/ Old Magazine House: https://www.oldmagazinehouse.com/ Music: https://epidemicsound.com/ Insects and wildflower photography by Meghna Chittora:   / meghnachittora   Filmed by Vinay Chittora / Cane & Camera Gear used: Camera: Fujifilm X-H2S Lens: Fujinon 150-600mm Microphone: Sennheiser MKE 600 Recorder: Zoom H4essential #GodsOfTheGhats #WesternGhats #Sahyadris #WildlifeDocumentary #NatureFilm #Biodiversity #BirdingIndia #Conservation #NaturalHistory #CaneAndCamera
