Woodturning - THE ULTIMATE Blanton's Bourbon Stopper Display 🥃

About 3 years ago, one of my closest friends REALLY got into bourbon, especially Blanton's Bourbon. Naturally, he started collecting all of the Blanton's stoppers. He asked me then if I could make him a display, and told me that it didn't have to be anything special. But, for the last 3 years, I've been pondering just how to make a stopper display that is truly unique, and special. For those who don't know, beginning in 1999 a collector's set of eight different stoppers was produced. The set features a horse and jockey in different strides and poses resembling the stages of a horse race, from beginning to end. Each stopper is marked with a single letter that spells "Blanton's" when the set has been completed. This video is the creation of that display. It was made from a laminated blank of kiln dried oak, and finished with Yorkshire Grit and Hampshire Sheen Gloss Finishing Wax. The barrel is hollow inside and dyed black to resemble the charred inside of a real bourbon barrel. It is large enough to house a complete Blanton's bourbon bottle with a puck light set into the bottom in order to illuminate the bottle, and turn the entire piece into a work of art! In total, the piece measures approximately 12" tall, with the base being approximately 12" in diameter. I included some audio over the pictures at the end of when I presented the display to him.
