How To Perform ID Run ABB ACS880 Learn it FAST CTT

Performing an ID run or sometimes called an autotune of a VFD and Motor combination can be confusing until you have performed one on a demo or in the field during commissioning. This video gets right to the point and tells you how to perform an ID run on an ACS800 VFD. It does not address if an ID Run is needed vs setting the drive up in Scaler Mode. POINT: ABB Drives do a sort of multitasking with the display during Warnings. The warning light will flash and a warning screen will show but it can be hidden. In this case once the ID Run requested is changed from none to one of the choices in effect a warning is triggered telling the user the next time the drive is given a run command it will begin the ID Run sequence rather than follow the speed reference. Remember, Watch out for this.. The manual says to perform a normal or standstill ID Run but I've found the Advanced or Advanced Standstill give slightly better speed regulation especially at low speeds. Here are the minimum number of parameters you MUST set to perform a proper ID Run on the ABB Drive. Pr 99.03 Motor Type (unless it's a Permanent magnet most of the time it's Asynchronous) Pr 99.04 Motor Control Mode, Set to DTC Pr 99.06 Motor nominal current, From Motor Nameplate Pr 99.07 Motor nominal voltage, From Motor Nameplate Pr 99.08 Motor nominal frequency, From Motor Nameplate Pr 99.09 Motor nominal speed, From Motor Nameplate Pr 99.10 Motor nominal power, From Motor Nameplate Pr 99.13 ID run requested (I use Advanced or Advanced Standstill) Again, please subscribe to help the channel with it's Youtube presence and share it with others you want to help educate about ABB VFDs.
