Among the various missions of the military, 'counterintelligence' and 'security' are considered fields requiring a long period for personnel training due to their unique nature. However, following the dissolution and reorganization of the Defense Security Command (DSC), a large number of agents who were returned to their original units left the military. [Reserve former DSC NCO/Voiceover: "The DSC issued an unconditional order for return. They don't even tell us why we were sent back. Even when we demanded an explanation, there was no response."] At the time, two officers who had returned to their original units even took their own lives. When asked how those to be reinstated would be selected during the dissolution process, the Ministry of National Defense stated only that it would "examine each case individually according to their respective fields of duty."
