Bonnie & The Treasures - MY CHICO (Unreleased) - Gold Star Studios (1966)

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED - (Unreleased Philles/Phi-Dan Records recording) 54 years after this marvelous 'Wall of Sound' Girl Group track was put to tape, 'My Chico' by Bonnie & The Treasures finally comes out of hibernation by way of an 8 inch Gold Star Recording Studios acetate thanks to Jana O'Hara, the daughter of lead vocalist, Charlotte O'Hara. The backing track was recorded in the last week of March 1966 with vocals added days later in early April. A fixture at the studio in the early 1960's, Charlotte not only offered her vocal services for demo recordings and session work along with solo and group recordings she was also an accomplished composer. She had her first solo single on the Ava label and two years later, she along with Sherlie Matthews and Clydie King became Bonnie & The Treasures for Phil Spector's Philles Records subsidiary label, Phi-Dan. Jerry Riopelle produced and Nick De Caro provided the arrangement for the Barry Man & Cynthia Weil tune, 'Home Of The Brave'. Unexpectedly another version by Jody Miller would be released as well and passed it on the charts peaking at #25 while Bonnie's stalled at #77. A follow up Bonnie & The Treasures disc was entitled, 'Close Your Eyes', credited to simply, 'Bonnie' and was leased to Warner Brothers. It was another wonderful' Wall Of Sound' double sider that unfortunately failed to chart. 'My Chico', another stellar effort, was sadly shelved. Hopefully the master reel of tape is safely filed within the Philles Records tape vault and will receive an official digital release in the not so distant future. an abbreviated unreleased alternate version of the backing track can be heard here:    • Wrecking Crew - 'MY CHICO' - unissued Bonn...
