The Ortuella Town Council held an extraordinary plenary session yesterday to recognize the first municipal corporation formed in 1931, following the proclamation of the Republic. During the session, an institutional manifesto was approved, reaffirming the Council's commitment to historical memory and proceeding with the reparation, restoration, and recognition of those public officials who served on the Ortuella Corporation during that historical period. Following the ceremony, the council presented a memento to the descendants of those council members. Of the 17 council members, relatives of 15 attended from various parts of the Basque Country and Spain. Only two were absent, having gone into exile, and their relatives could not be contacted. With this initiative, the City Council recognizes the work carried out by those who comprised the municipal institution at a key moment in history.
