The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced that, in celebration of the 2026 Year of Visiting Islands, it will provide up to 100,000 won per person to cover a portion of travel expenses—including accommodation, meals, and ferry fares—for travelers visiting non-connected islands for two months starting next month. In response, Yeosu City is promoting its local islands to boost demand for summer island tourism ahead of the Island Expo. Additionally, starting August 29, the city is focusing on informing tourists about the 'Yeosu Island Half-Price Travel' program, which refunds 50% of the cost in local currency to tourists from other regions who visit Yeosu islands.
