La vie du frère Jean-Thierry de l’Enfant-Jésus et de la Passion, Carme Déchaux

Jean-Thierry Ebogo was born on 4 February 1982 at Nkongsamba, in north-west Cameroon. From his earliest years he showed the desire to be a priest. After a short stay with the Oblates of Mary Immaculate at Mokolo, he joined the Discalced Carmelite brothers at Nkoabang, on 28 July 2003. He was admitted to the novitiate, but in June 2004, a tumour suddenly appeared in his right knee. On 18 November 2004, he had his right leg amputated. Having been sent to Italy in August 2005 for intensive treatment and also for his novitiate, the cancer was found to have spread. Having obtained the necessary dispensation, he pronounced his solemn vows at the hospital. On 5 January 2006, he expired peacefully. He had said previously: “I will not do the same as Theresa of the Child Jesus, who promised a shower of roses from Heaven; no, from my Heaven I will send a shower of vocations.” The process of beatification is in course. 0:00 Intro 1:11 My childhood, in a loving home 3:05 My vocation: a spark, that became fire 5:52 First steps: the minor seminary of Guider 8:55 Monatélé High School, Called beloved Jean 12:43 Mokolo, with the Oblates 17:18 In search of my vocation 20:41 My family, the Discalced Carmelites 28:51 The emergence of the unforeseen, a tumour on the right knee 35:08 From my project to his own project 38:02 Italy, journey of hope 41:12 I will do anything, provided that I see you
