The state of Piauí is about to begin a new phase of economic development with the advancement of operations at Porto Piauí, in Luís Correia. The project promises to insert the state into the national and international import and export routes. The first commercial operations should focus on the import of marine fertilizers and the export of iron ore extracted in the municipality of Piripiri, which is currently shipped through Ceará, but will now be shipped through the Piauí coast.
