1CCBBH - 736. Capcom Fighting Jam / Capcom Fighting Evolution (Ingrid/Karin, 1 Credit Clear)

Recently a fork of PCSX2 was released called PCSX2X6, which was designed specifically for support of games running on Namco's System 246 and System 256 arcade hardware, which were essentially modified PlayStation 2's. And what better way to celebrate this than by... um... playing Capcom Fighting Jam, I guess. Yeah, this game sucks. After Capcom cancelled their 3D Capcom Fighting All-Stars game due to underwhelming location tests, they decided to slap together a new 2D fighter with plenty of recycled assets. But it introduces Ingrid, wow!!! Even at the time players rejected this, because it feels like a Capcom MUGEN, a complete mishmash of differing characters and engines and almost none of it actually feels good to play. Combine that with some ugly backgrounds featuring all your favorite Capcom superstars in cardboard cutout form (I will never get over that T. Hawk traced over the 3rd Strike Ken art) and you've got what's considered one of Capcom's worst. But it was released as an arcade game, so alas here we are, playing slop to make 1CC number go up. Anyway, there was some weirdness in this run. On stage 2 Leo was blocking most everything and then teching every grab. Not to be outdone by that, Alex on stage 3 turned into a friggin parry bot, what the fuck? If I didn't have Karin's command throw then the only way I could possibly win would be by anti-airing him over and over (or hoping to god I pressed a button that beat one of his). So bizarre. There will probably be more System 246/256 games coming up in this series very soon, of course.
