Dowke Hill - Shropshire Hill Walks 19/130 Highest Shropshire Hills AONB

Dowke Hill (416 m) is not a 'walkers hill'. Even though it is the 19th highest hill in Shropshire its 'big-boy' status is severely damaged by it only just having sufficient prominence (33 m) to make it a separate hill from its neighbor 'Garn Rock Hill'. But... you may be a determined hill-bagger, or may just be in the area and it is somewhere you want to quickly inspect. There are no long footpaths starting from the bottom of the Clun Valley, slowly winding their way up gradually to the summit. The surrounding fields are full of livestock and the area is criss-crossed with single track country lanes. I parked very close to the summit (as you can tell) where there is a track with two size-able hedges either side (it goes right across the top, totally cutting off the two sides of the hill from each other). I believe the track goes across to a small quarry on the far side. Access the summit from the field to the left of the hedged track, as that will lead you to the highest ground.
