Why We Shouldn't Forget Dragon's Crown

Dragon's Crown is a game that deserves some love. I always felt like that game didn't get the attention it deserved at the time of its original release due to the media outcry surrounding the art direction and, specifically, the female character designs. I made this video to provide a more holistic analysis of the game that goes beyond talking about its rather unique art style, though that aspect is also discussed here. I hope you enjoy this approach, please let me know what you think in the comments below. _____________________________________ Chapters: 0:00 Dragon's Crown and the Media 2:22 A Unique Art Style 5:27 Gameplay and Character Progression 7:42 Game Loop and Quest Design 11:31 Scores, EXP and Adaptable Difficulty 14:31 A Traditional Tale _____________________________________ The Schreier/Kamitani controversy: https://kotaku.com/game-developers-re... https://kotaku.com/the-real-problem-w... https://kotaku.com/the-artist-behind-... _____________________________________ Some concept art: https://www.iamag.co/dragons-crown-co... _____________________________________ Renaissance paintings: Kalvarienberg Altar Österreich Anfang 16 Jh.: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fi...
