Lesson learned: have a spare modern solid state FUEL PUMP from a reputable manufacturer, designed for carburetors. Match the pressure to your original pump. Very easy to replace - 2 houses, 2 wires. During my long trip through Pyrenees this was the only part that gave me trouble.
