It is about **'additional charges for intermediate stops'**. I decided to cover this topic because a subscriber requested in the comments of my last video that I address the issue of intermediate stops. In fact, since this is a topic I have always wanted to discuss myself, I spoke with even more sincerity. 😊 🚖 'Intermediate Stops' from a Taxi Driver's Perspective: Having driven a taxi for a year, I have picked up a great many passengers who made intermediate stops. Of course, there are good routes, but honestly, from a driver's perspective, it is often not easy. This is because if the destination is fixed but we stop at multiple places, it often results in a loss when calculated in terms of profit relative to the time spent (hourly wage). For example, when traveling from Seomyeon to Jeonggwan in Busan, it is usually faster and more efficient to exit towards Munhyeon-dong and take the urban expressway. However, if you are asked to stop at various places like Yeonsan-dong or Myeongjang-dong, it takes longer and reduces revenue. Since you cannot take faster routes like tunnels, bridges, overpasses, or urban expressways, the total travel distance actually shortens, leading to situations where it is a loss for the driver. ⏱️ Of course, there are also cases where the route actually improves, such as when dropping off a girlfriend near home before returning. There are clearly pros and cons. 💡 The 'Destination Surcharge' System Is Absolutely Necessary I believe that an additional fee for intermediate stops must be introduced. Given that the "promotion of a bill for intermediate stop surcharges" was a campaign pledge in the recent Busan Private Taxi Association chairman election, I believe this is a point shared by many drivers. The base fare in Busan is 4,800 won, and I believe an additional fee of about 3,000 won (approximately two-thirds of the base fare) for intermediate stops is appropriate. If this is applied simply by manipulating the meter or pressing a button, drivers will be able to operate much more comfortably. I believe that if an additional fee is introduced, the number of passengers traveling separately will increase, which could actually revitalize the overall use of taxis. Even on Uber and Kakao Call, there are many requests for intermediate stops; however, affiliated drivers are often forced to accept these requests without realizing they are intermediate calls, which further necessitates improvements to the system. 🙏 Please share your opinions, subscribers! While it has the advantage of rarely running at a loss, it is not as glamorous a job as it is portrayed in the media.
