President Rodrigo Paz ruled out suspending the state of emergency. On the fourth day of the measure, which is now in effect for 90 days, Paz affirmed this Tuesday that it will continue because “we have many things to put in order.” He asserted that Bolivia cannot relive what happened in the last 50 days of criminal blockades and sieges, and that this is the legal instrument that allows the government to restore order to the country. Paz contradicted the Minister of the Presidency, José Luis Lupo, who had opened the door to lifting the measure before the 90 days were up if normalcy returned.
