Sylvania 21C509 Halolight TV Repair pt.1

Sylvania made "Halolight" TVs in Canada and the United States from about 1950 to almost 1960. Their distinguishing feature is that they had a luminous frame around the TV screen. The idea was it would reduce eye-strain when watching TV for a long time. This Canadian Halolight TV 21C509 is from about 1956 or 1957. It's a floor model TV with a 21” black & white screen. It was not operable when I received it. In this video, I start with a brief explanation of Halolight TV's. Before working on any TV I want to make sure that the cathode ray tube (i.e., picture tube) works, so I test the picture tube and the 17 chassis tubes. Next, I remove the Halolight circuit and diagnose the problem with it. Finally, I discover an unwelcome surprise behind the chassis. This is part 1. I don't yet know how many parts there are will be.
