H A L U H A L O Mixtapes - Being Mixed and Queer

The HaluHalo Mixtapes is all about gathering together a group of mixed race folk to discuss and unpack issues that impact the mixed race community. In this episode we explore the intersectionality of being mixed and queer. The statistic stated at the beginning is from a UK survey conducted in 2017 on sexual orientation (available to obtain from the Office for National Statistics) and the answers showed the ethnic group that had the highest number of people that self-identified as queer was mixed race folk. Does being mixed and existing in between spaces and binaries that deviates from what society has traditionally dictated as the 'norm' mean we have more ease compared to mono racial people in self-identifying as queer?⁣⁣ Watch and let us know your thoughts.
