Can - Tago Mago (1971): ProgAnálises (Participações: Arthur Almeida e Marya Monteiro) | PROGLAND
Hey everyone! We're back with another video on our channel! Today's video is another ProgAnalysis revisiting and retelling the history, legacy, impact, and track-by-track analysis of a classic of progressive music. Today, we'll be talking about a classic album in the history of a movement within the substratum: Germanic krautrock, with perhaps its supreme masterpiece: "Tago Mago" by Can, from 1971. The second studio album from the seminal group consisting of Irmin Schmidt, Holger Czukay, Jaki Liebezeit, Damo Suzuki, and Michael Karoli, "Tago Mago" is a fusion of craftsmanship, experimentation, and visceral intensity—the pinnacles of krautrock. This double album ranges from melodies guided by influences from the English psychedelic scene, to contemporary German classical and concrete music, to ambient music and the progressive funk and soul of African American groups, across its seven expansive and expansive tracks. These tracks laid an indestructible foundation for a generation of artists and consolidated krautrock as one of the most important artistic movements of the 20th century. To analyze the legacy of this masterpiece, track by track, revisiting the history of the work and its impact at the time, as well as the diverse "worlds" represented, we have a powerful duo for this conversation: Arthur Almeida (already well-known from the early days of Progland) and Marya Monteiro, avid fans of "Tago Mago" and krautrock. We hope you all enjoy the video. And if you like it, don't forget to like it. And please: activate the bell, comment and share a lot! Enjoy the video everyone.
