In Mo's capacity as record man he signed the young phenom. nearly 2 decades later they were at each other's throats. How did Mo Ostin become the man referred to as "Chairman Mo". This guy was shrewd, strategic and powerful. By most account he was one of the nicest guys in the business. Most didn't know that he was schooled by another "chairman". Frank Sinatra hired Mo Ostin fresh out of college and off of his stint with Norman Granze and the MCA records purchased Verve records. Mo was not going to be intimidated by Prince, but Prince was coming in with a self righteous argument. Prince wanted his master recordings back at a time when Warner Bros was getting ready to merge with Time publishers. Once upon a time in Minneapolis is on the clock and so is Prince.
