COLEGIATA DE SANTA MARÍA LA MAYOR DE TORO (ZAMORA)

History and Archaeology travels to the town of Toro, in the province of Zamora, to discover its magnificent Collegiate Church of Santa María la Mayor. The collegiate church, with a Latin cross layout and three naves and a transept, is an imposing Romanesque/Gothic church built in the second half of the 12th century. Declared a National Monument in 1892 and a Site of Cultural Interest in 2008, its most notable features are its three-apse apse, its dome, and the so-called Portico of the Majesty, which still retains some of its original polychromy.
