Welcome to Oh Art. Today, we want to introduce you to one of the greatest Chinese ink painters of all time, Chang Daichien (Zhang Daqian). His paintings are highly sought after in auctions and have sold for more than those of Picasso. He was a master of traditional Chinese ink painting and also one of the first to introduce abstract elements to the art form. One of his most famous innovations was the creation of the ink-splashed lotus painting style, which we will be demonstrating in this video. This technique involves using a brush to splash ink onto the paper in a way that creates a lotus flower's delicate petals and leaves. It is important to note that Chang Daichien passed away in 1984, making it incredibly rare to witness his techniques first-hand. In this tutorial, we will faithfully demonstrate his ink-splashed skill, allowing you to learn his unique style and understand why he is considered one of the greatest ink painters of all time.
