This was stated in statements to the media after Rivas had to hand over her 11-year-old son, Daniel, today at the Family Meeting Point in Granada, after the Constitutional Court rejected her appeal for protection, which sought to prevent his release to his father, who is facing trial in Italy accused of repeatedly abusing his children. "I want to say that it is absolutely painful that we have had to reach this situation," lamented Rego, for whom Daniel was "clear" and "unequivocal" about his opposition to returning to Italy with his father.
