Understanding Buddhist Deities
Tibetan Buddhism, like several other traditions, is poly theistic. The notion of sacredness is expressed through a variety of transcendent "forms" known as lha - which could be translated as deities. These deities embody different aspects of our own enlightened qualities such as wisdom, compassion, skillful means, confidence, etc. and can be invoked in various meditation practices.
