How to make a Great Bushcraft Knife Handle || ModifyFällkniven F1x with Desert Ironwood Handle Fallkniven F1x has a superb blade for bushcraft, survival and general outdoor. A great knife... with a terrible handle, at least if you want to use as your main knife for hours everyday. So I decide to make a new handle for it with one of my favourite handle material for bushcraft knife: desert ironwood. Suddenly it become my favourite bushcraft knife! Don't get me wrong, I believe that the original design is very clever, and has some clear advantages: the slim handle is great for a tool that you must carry but that may be you'll never use in normal condition. So great choice for a pilot survival knife. If you are in cold climate probably the handle texture, shape and feelings doesn't matter because you are wearing thick gloves...etc... But in my experience and in my daily use I carry a knife that I use a lot. I don't wear gloves but 3 month per year. From a knife handle I need first of all versatility (allow different grips), confort, feeling, and grip "by shape". For "grip by shape" I mean an handle with polish surface, something that helps to avoid hot spots and blisters even after hours of use, but that sits secure in the hand thanks to the shape. The so called "Coke bottle" (somenthing that Bark River Knives use a lot) shape is my favourite choice to achive this "grip by shape" feeling.
