Petter A1 Stationary Engine, first run after rebuild.

I bought this Petter A1 for spare parts but it seemed too good to dismantle so I got the necessary bits to get it running again. The original carb had been butchered to run on gas so I had to get a new one, and there was no fuel tank so I need one of those too. The sump had about an inch of thick sludge in the bottom - it looked like the oil hadn't been changed in about a thousand years. The oil splasher/dipper rod was installed the wrong way round from a previous rebuild and there was quite a bit of slop in the big end so during the strip down I replaced the big end shells. The valves were badly coked up and losing quite a bit of compression. Getting the flywheel gib key out was a task all by itself - I made a key puller which would have worked on an easier key but no good, the key was stuck fast. So I made a wedge style key puller - this definitely would have worked on an easier key - I gave the key several heating/cooling cycles but still no good. Eventually the gib itself broke off so I made a third puller that welded directly to the remains of the key and bingo, out came the key. I made a new exhaust, serviced the magneto, fitted new fuel pipe etc and it's ready to go.
