Sinéad O'Connor - Just Call Me Joe (from DVD "The Value Of Ignorance") HD
The DVD "The Value Of Ignorance" is one of the most emblematic works of Sinéad O'Connor. Considered by many critics to be a big mistake in the career of the artist, it is, however, one of the most printed works in which Sinéad characteristics known so your audience: the anxiety, the rebellion and the like by expressing both in music and in their presentations what thinks about everything. Seen gently realizes easily that the video does not have only primary, the sound effects clearly is also purposely mixed in high volume, the instruments are distorted and the noises into the microphone are heard clearly, have not been deleted in post-production. Were intentionally kept. It is a mistake to believe that a work of this can sometime reflect amateurism or inexperience. An even bigger mistake is committed by those who don't see it an authorial work with a clear speech on cultural industry itself, its methods, and the constant intervernção of that industry in the artist's work, against whom Sinéad turned in his entire career. A critic who does not see in it a reflection of the time in which it was recorded (1988, rise of the indie movement) is ignoring all the context that generated this video and therefore is not able to write or comment on the career of an artist as Sinéad O'Connor. "Just Call Me Joe" is one of the best songs on the DVD "The Value Of Ignorance", has an arrangement apparently simple, but extremely accurate and shows a detail which highlights the conceptual side of this material: synthesized voices interventions were applied (which occurs also in the other tracks on the DVD) in the audio, as well as the participation of LesLie Winer exists at the end of the song. Certainly, the name "The Value Of Ignorance" was not chosen by chance to this DVD.
