This episode's star: The Italian-made CISITALIA 202 SC CABRIOLET (1948) Before World War II, there was a man named Piero Dúsio who made his fortune in the Italian textile industry and also played professionally for the prestigious Juventus. After the war, he founded CISITALIA to create his ideal racing car. The Tipo 202 series coupe was the first sports car produced by Cisitalia, and its superb performance and design quickly earned it a reputation as a "classic car." A year later, the subject of this episode, the CABRIOLET, was created. Its selling price surpassed even the already expensive coupe, and its customers included many world-renowned figures such as Henry Ford II and Ingrid Bergman and his wife. However, due to massive investments in GP car development, the company's finances deteriorated, and Cisitalia quietly disappeared from the public eye. Despite a production run of fewer than 300 units, its name is etched in automotive history. This particular car is one of the few remaining original convertible models, a valuable example that tells the story of that era.
