WIFE ABUSED BY HUSBAND FOR REFUSING POLYGAMY A housewife with the initials SL (33) reported her husband, PT (33), to the Palembang City Police Department for alleged domestic violence. In the report, filed on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, SL stated that she suffered bruises all over her body after being abused by her husband. The incident occurred at their home in the Tanjung Barangan area of Palembang on Friday, July 18, 2025, at around 11:30 PM WIB. According to SL, the abuse began with an argument when she questioned PT's proposed isbat (confirmation) hearing to validate his marriage to his young wife in the religious court. SL then firmly stated that she did not agree to polygamy. However, her husband became angry and strangled and beat her. SL admitted that she could no longer stand her husband's abusive behavior, who often acted aggressively whenever her wishes were denied. Therefore, she decided to report it to the police. Meanwhile, the Head of the Palembang Police's Criminal Investigation Unit (SPKT), First Inspector Erwin, confirmed that the police had received SL's report. This report is also being followed up by the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Criminal Investigation Unit.
