Hi, I'm Andrey Efimov, the creator of the Timelab @TimelabPro project. • My team and I shoot videos for countries, regions, cities, and brands (DJI, MV Augusta, LOTTE), and we license our footage to Hollywood (Paramount, Netflix, Universal). This is the second episode of our project. A year after our first unsuccessful attempt, we returned to Afghanistan on the Li L9. We're following in the footsteps of Dmitry Putyata's expedition: we have his 1883 diaries with us, and along the way, we compare what we see with his notes from more than 130 years ago. Our journey takes us to the Wakhan Corridor, to the Afghan Kyrgyz. They are one of the most isolated communities in the world: for over a century, they have lived far from their historical homeland, preserving their nomadic way of life and traditions. This also has a special historical resonance. Dmitry Putyata arrived here three years before the Wakhan Corridor fell victim to the Great Game—that geopolitical clash of great powers that would determine the region's fate for a long time. We, on the other hand, arrived just as the corridor was beginning to open up to the world. It was a turning point then, as it is now. Both he and we found ourselves here at a historic moment: Putyata on the threshold of a major political drama, and we on the threshold of new changes. The first changes in the region are already noticeable: China's influence is growing, the first roads through the Wakhan are appearing. All this could significantly change the familiar way of life. We want to capture this world as it is today, parallel to how Putyata saw it.
