Recently, on my Instagram stories I asked other Muslim Homeschooling mums a simple question: Do your children keep a nature journal? When the results came in, I was absolutely shocked. 50% of the homeschooling mums who responded said NO. We’ve been homeschooling our own children for more than ten years now, and in all that time, we have always prioritized nature study for kids. But knowing what I know about the incredible developmental and spiritual benefits, it made me realise something: either the sisters on Instagram don’t know how to do it, or they aren’t sure why it matters so much. Brothers and sisters, let’s give our children the gift of a living education. Let’s step away from the artificial pressure of the “perfect aesthetic” and instead train our children to look at the world with hearts full of gratitude, minds sharp with scientific curiosity, and eyes that constantly recognize the signs of Allah سبحانه وتعالى.
