While Addison had never followed a religion before, Saad was a devout Muslim when the pair met. Addison explained to Truly that Saad was, "The first Muslim that I'd ever met. Before meeting Saad, I would definitely say that I had misconceptions about Islam, especially Muslim men and how the religion treated women." When the couple started discussing marriage, Addison toyed with the idea of converting to Islam, but it's something she initially struggled with. She said, "I had a lot of doubts at first. I was researching things on the internet and I'd find really horrible things." But after chatting to Saad about his stance on things, Addison decided to go ahead with the conversion. Sharing her Islam journey online, Addison has received a whole heap of negative comments, with people saying, 'In Islam, women are just about slaves,' and that Saad 'forced' Addison to convert. Ignoring the negativity, Addison won't let the trolls stop her from posting about their life. Addison said, "You should never judge people on things like their race or religion. You should just never judge people before you know them."
