Although my channel is called Thai Dreamer, I sometimes travel beyond Thailand into neighboring countries like Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos searching for the same emotional atmosphere and quiet inspiration. But no matter where I go, one habit never changes: I run every single day. In this episode, I share my early morning running experience around Hoan Kiem Lake in Hanoi, Vietnam, one of Southeast Asia’s most chaotic yet strangely alive cities. Hanoi is infamous for pollution, motorbike traffic, and noisy streets filled with smoke, grilled meat, and endless movement. The moment I stepped outside my hotel, I was hit by the sound of motorcycles and the smell of gasoline mixed with street food smoke. Thankfully, my hotel was near Hoan Kiem Lake, giving me a place to continue my daily running routine despite the poor air quality. As I ran through Hanoi at sunrise wearing my Garmin watch and maintaining a 5-minute-per-kilometer pace, I slowly became absorbed by the atmosphere around the lake: elderly locals dancing together to loud music, young Vietnamese runners circling the lake, peaceful cafés opening beside the water, and the feeling that Hanoi itself was waking up in real time. Even though the pollution level was high, the emotional energy of the city somehow made me forget it temporarily.
