Day 1 I South Fork, Colorado Singletrack Exploration + 2026

Alder Bench Trail, Palisade Trail, Bear Creek Trail & more. https://www.twtex.com/forums/threads/... Alder Bench Trail The south end of the Alder Bench single-track starts on Alder Road, north of the town of South Fork, Colorado. The first couple of miles before connecting to the Palisades Trail are very technical. It climbs up several very sharp switchbacks that will require advanced maneuvers to make the turn. The trail is very rocky, narrow, and exposed, with a big rock ledge obstacle, and several smaller embedded rock ledges and steep rocky hills. The trail continues north through the trees in a unique drier terrain with desert-looking rock in the pine trees. It side-hills, but is still pretty wide, and goes up a couple more rocky switchbacks. It gets faster for a section, but then it has another really big obstacle up a steep off-camber embedded rock climb with loose dirt. It's like doing Hard Enduro with a lot of rocks. This big move has an easier line to the right, but is still very tricky. It's off-camber with embedded rock, so it's hard to stay smooth. Most riders will push here. This is a cool trail to ride if exploring the Creede area or the Wheeler Geologic Area, with several other single tracks nearby to combine it with. Palisade Trail Overview The Palisade Trail starts right off of Highway 149 north of the town of South Fork, Colorado. There is no staging area or anything, so you'll most likely need to be street-legal to access this trail from the highway. It starts with a rocky, loose climb with switchbacks. The trail starts in a drier terrain with more red rock. It goes up against a rock wall and then tops out in a flat plateau, before continuing on into the trees. The trail heads north for 2 miles and 800 feet elevation gain before connecting with the Alder Bench Trail. The trail is super fun with some solid rock sections and downed logs requiring big moves. Bear Creek Trail Overview The Bear Creek ATV trail descends through the Rio Grande National Forest for almost 5 miles from north to south. The north end starts as a wide shelfy road above Bear Creek, going straight at the base of a wide open hillside. It starts to curve into the trees but continues at the base of the mountain. The trail gets rockier in the trees, with some embedded small boulders, and loose rocks, frequently having to ride over a very bumpy surface. You will likely find some moisture and mud on the trail in several spots, also making it more rutted. As it gradually descends, it goes through big grassy meadows, dropping down from the high alpine into more of a drier terrain. It ends on Bear Road. This trail is popular for hunters in the fall. #SouthForkColorado #hondaxr400r #gasgasec300 #Yamahawr450f #ktm300exc #singletrack #plateddirtbikerider #sanderjavant #AlderBenchTrail #PalisadeTrail #BearCreekTrail #SanderAvant
