PERSEPOLIS - The Wonder of Ancient Persia

In the 13th episode of Paths Less Traveled - Iran, I’m visiting a bucket list destination and top sight in Iran - Persepolis (تخت جمشید). The ancient city was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire dating back to 518 BC, and a symbol of power at the peak of the Persian empire. I’ll discover some of the incredible history, before heading north to the necropolis - Naqsh-e Rostam (نقش رستم), where the grand tombs of the Achaemenid Kings are built into the cliff face. Stopping for lunch there’ll be and insanely big Iranian feast of stuffed chicken - Morgh Shekam Por, along with an indecent amount of sides (Alook, Dopiaze, Dampokht, Doogh and Dates Halva - and that’s just the ones I included on this video!). The hospitality was incredible, the food was delicious and it never stopped coming! With a full stomach, we’ll visit the Tomb of Cyrus the Great (آرامگاه کوروش بزرگ) - The first of the Achaemenid Kings, and that’ll be the end of the day as I won’t bore you with the long long journey onwards to Isfahan. Less sights overall in this video, but Persepolis is certainly a heavy hitter and deserves the time.
