Geely is a Chinese multinational automotive manufacturing company that is based in Hangzhou, China. The company produces a wide range of vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, and minivans. In November 2019, Geely Automobile Holding Limited, a leading Chinese car manufacturer, announced that it had acquired a 51% stake in Mercedes-Benz's Smart division, with the aim to develop and produce electric smart cars in China. With this acquisition Geely will manage and develop the Smart brand, and will produce and market smart-branded electric cars in China. So Geely is the current owner of the smart brand and it's working on developing electric smart cars in China - SMART #1 .
