A Long Day Watching Trains in Galesburg 20251018

18 October 2025 It was a very busy day in Galesburg, IL. We started at Peck Park for the arrival of A381, and caught a couple intermodals on the Transcon. All you have to do is wait for 5 minutes to see one. :) We camped at Icehouse Park to get a different view of the station and trains. This is the park across the tracks from the station. It's right by the Adams building if you watch the Virtual Railfan cam there. Of course, we got some shots from the platform as well. Amtrak 6 - California Zephyr - arrived with three locos and a DOTX 221. Amtrak 4 - Southwest Chief - was pulling a Surfliner business car back to California. It was likely on the way back from Beech Grove, IN, where Amtrak has a big repair shop. And somebody please tell us what the car at 8:23 is. LOL The audio is terrible thanks to drone noise.
