Elementz: Kre8v Dance Troupe at TEDxCincy

For more than six years, Kre8v Dance company has been a program of Elementz Hip Hop Arts Center. Elementz has been working to build up a group of talented urban-inspired artists right here in Cincinnati. We use the very popular Hip Hop art form and culture as a platform to inspire and engage inner city youth. Leveraging the core elements of Hip-Hop (dance, spoken word, graffiti, DJ'ing) we help youth develop leadership skills, and unleash their creativity to produce and perform conscious hip hop that is respectful, insightful, and uplifting. Elementz's unique program distinction is that all of the center's artists create, and perform their own compositions- consistent with Elementz's core values of respect, community, and positivity transforming the typically negative portrayals of urban life (such as drugs or violence), into inspirational, uplifting and collaborative expression! In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
