Hemophilia 101: for Emergency and Acute Care Physicians
Hemophilia 101 for Emergency and Acute Care Physicians The medical and nursing leaders of the Hemophilia Treatment Centre at St. Michael's Hospital have developed a video and infographic to better equip acute care and family physicians and other health care practitioners in managing patients with hemophilia. These resources provide critical information to those providing emergency or office-based care, and who are likely not familiar with treatment protocols. The resources provided emphasize a key point of providing timely hemophilia treatment and not delaying while waiting for lab results. Although these patient presentations are uncommon, we hope that this advice will improve our hemophilia patients’ outcomes when they seek urgent care.
