Many of them are very affordable and some are the same Amp-Hour but different sized. For example, we have the 4AH Extended run and the 4Ah Ultimate battery pack. How much difference will you see between those battery packs? From our testing, quite a bit! We take a new Kobalt 24V drill and watch the voltage dip during different drilling procedures. We can use that data to help decide what batteries are the best to purchase in the future or what ones will work best on heavy-duty tools. In the case of the 4Ah batteries in the Kobalt 24V line, the Ultimate series is by far a better performer if you can find them at a good price. The Kobalt 8Ah Ultimate battery is a large battery and might be a lot for a drill, but it was awesome at keeping the voltage high and giving the tool the most power to complete any task. Many people will say that Amp-Hours have no relation to power, and in some ways they are right. The issue is what cells are used in the different amp-hour battery packs. The Amp-Output ratings on these cells are different, so in most cases, a 6Ah battery will outperform a 5Ah battery. But in other cases, a 6Ah battery might outperform a 9Ah battery. So looking at the Ah alone is not a determining factor. The goal of these batteries is to provide the amps the tool is looking for and if it starts to fail to do so, the voltage will drop.
