Fencers must maintain a clear, honest target at all times—any movement that hides valid target, intentional or not, is an offense. The first violation is a yellow card, with repeated offenses resulting in a red card. Through several bout examples, we see this occur in attacks, counterattacks, ripostes, and remises, where brief head movement can obscure valid target.
