Regardless of difficult circumstances, Joseph of Egypt stayed faithful to the Lord. There were moments when Joseph was deeply frustrated and wondered if God had abandoned and forgotten him. But I love this phrase that appears repeatedly in Joseph’s story: “The Lord was with Joseph” (Genesis 39:2). The Lord never left Joseph because Joseph never left the Lord. No trial of faith is so heavy, no situation is so dark or difficult, that it can’t be lightened and brightened by the brilliant light of Jesus Christ.
