Holoboard: Interactive Learning Spaces Beyond Zoom Fatigue: A presentation by Joachim Knaf at the University:Future Festival 2026. Digital teaching is often reduced to video conferences and static content. This quickly leads to fatigue and limits the quality of learning. The Holoboard offers an alternative: an interactive learning space that combines a transparent display box, AI-supported roles, and dialogic scenarios. Students practice realistic conversation and decision-making situations, receive direct feedback, and experience digital teaching as active, physical, and present once again. This presentation introduces the didactic concept, initial applications at Munich University of Applied Sciences, and the technical architecture. Participants will leave with concrete ideas for their own AI-supported scenarios and hybrid learning spaces that go far beyond traditional video conferences. The physical locations of the hybrid festival were Berlin, Braunschweig, Essen, Graz, Hamburg, and Nuremberg. The University:Future Festival (U:FF) is the largest event dedicated to the (digital) future of academic education. Topics included AI, future skills, didactics, and strategic processes. Participants enjoyed a diverse program with approximately 280 presentations from around 550 speakers! The University:Future Festival is a collaboration between the Higher Education Forum on Digitalization, the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education, and the Stifterverband (Donors' Association for German Science). The partner stages were organized by the Emerging Tech Lab and the Media Lab of the Project House at TU Braunschweig, ORCA.nrw, Graz University of Technology, Ohm University and UTN Nuremberg, and the University of Hamburg in conjunction with OERCamp.
