Ever since entering Sikkim, the skies had been overcast or rainy with no views of the snow-capped mountains — but on the very first morning in Yuksom, the sky finally opened up and Kangchenjunga revealed itself in all its glory. Compared to Pelling, Yuksom sees far fewer tourists, and during the off-season it feels like a quiet, sleepy village. But don't let that fool you — this place carries deep historical significance and has plenty to offer.
