According to Umahi, Mary called her boyfriend that morning to say she was about to take a bath, then called back complaining of a nosebleed. Her boyfriend urged her to end the call and seek help — but she begged him not to hang up. Moments later, she stopped responding. Umahi has denied any foul play, revealed he personally spent ₦2.2 million on her medical treatment in Turkey, and has asked the Inspector General of Police to transfer the case to Abuja while urging Mary's family to allow an autopsy.
