This was my first time speaking with a North Korean. I was impressed by how hard they worked and how modestly they chose their words. North Koreans who defect to South Korea often end up working in harsh conditions for low wages. My husband believes that as a Korean, we must support these defectors. As a Japanese person, I don't really understand the history between South and North Korea, but that day made me want to support these people too.
